Connemara AkRon Roundabout

The City of Rosemount, in coordination with Dakota County, are planning for the construction of a single-lane roundabout at the Connemara Trail and CR 73 (Akron Avenue) intersection to address increasing traffic volumes related to adjacent development and development in the project area. The existing two-way stop-controlled intersection was first established in 2018. Development of prior agricultural land has dramatically changed the dynamics of the project area.  

Future development in the project area includes residential single family, apartment buildings, Life Time fitness center, and commercial/retail/restaurant properties. Development is in progress directly adjacent to the Connemara Trail/CR 73 (Akron Avenue) intersection, with additional planned developments east and west along CSAH 42 just south of the intersection. While existing crashes at the intersection are low, the proposed roundabout is a proactive solution to address the rapidly changing area of Rosemount.  

Right-of-Way acquisition conversations with businesses and residents will begin in 2024 and be completed in fall of 2025. Construction on the single-lane roundabout at Connemara Trail and Akron Avenue, is expected to begin in 2026.
